If you are receiving this message, you are on the 2008 Ohio Zone Team distribution list.  Please pass this note to anyone in your club that may not receive this information.  There are many Zone qualifiers in Ohio that are not on this distribution – so please spread the word on behalf of your club. For those of you that have participated in a USA Zone Championships in the past as members of TEAM OHIO, these are the important changes or notes to remember.  All details are in the registration packet…

 

  1. The Central Zone Championships will be held Aug 6-10, 2008 at IUPUI Natatorium in Indianapolis.  This is the 25th Anniversary of the Central Zones and will include at 15 chapters – and dubbed “MEGA ZONES”.  It will be the largest and fastest Zone Championships in USA history.
  2. There will not be a ZONE table setup at JO’s (July 17-20 at Miami U) to process your entries.  Since the Zone meet is 3 weeks after JO’s, you can send your entries after the JO meet.  Registration forms must be postmarked by Tue July 22nd to arrive on or prior to Thu July 24th.

  3. Parents and friends that want to order extra shirts can do so by noting quantity, color and size under the “optional” items in the lower half of the “Equipment Order Form”.

  4. For those of you traveling on the Ohio TRAVEL TEAM, we will have charter buses pick-up and drop-off in Toledo, Dayton, Columbus, and Cincinnati.  We depart early Wed Aug 6th and return late Sunday Aug 10th. Total travel cost is $400.
  5. For those of you traveling on your own, please time your arrival to coincide with TEAM OHIO registration at IUPUI (in the West Concourse) at 10:30AM on Wed Aug 6th.  At that time, we will distribute your equipment packages, have a team practice, take team pictures. Later, at the Marriott East Conference Center, we will have our TEAM OHIO Social and Dinner that begins at 3PM (meal served at 3:30PM), followed by announcements and good times.
  6. The Ohio coaches, chaperones, and staff are not participating at the Open Water Championships that takes place on Wednesday morning prior to ZONE registration at IUPUI later that afternoon. However, we will have an Ohio representative present and if you want to participate at Open Water on your own, we will process your entries.  If you are on the travel team, you will need to provide your own transportation to Open Water, then join the travel team at 10:30AM at the IUPUI Natatorium during pool registration.  This will be the only condition that permits a swimmer to join the travel team after the charter buses have left the four Ohio cities.
